Chris Anderson organized the Instagram challenge Tour de Freelance. An opportunity for freelance artists to showcase their animation and illustration skills. With my experience at Adventure Cycling, I was able to lean on my bike-touring knowledge and incorporate (and stretch the truth) about what a person might bring on a bike trip.

Do you need a stringy slice of pepperoni on a long-distance bike tour? Maybe! But I wanted to make sure this setup was a truly jam-packed, ridiculous feast for the eyes; with some fun inclusions that only true bike nerds would catch.
This project was an example of what happens after committing to an idea that would normally fall in the “fun, but way too complicated” basket. I made a tiny thumbnail, refined that in a digital drawing, then dove into a sea of vectors, keyframes, and nulls.
